Betty Jane Huhn

March 11, 1928 ~ September 1, 2019 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Tribute

Betty Jane Huhn, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior on  September 1, 2019 at her home in Azusa, California.  She was born March 11, 1928 to Anna Rebekah Long and Donald Miller in San Francisco, California.  She was raised in Covina, California by her mother and loving step-father, Howard Kridler,  Betty was an active member of the Covina Brethren Church, Job's Daughters and attended and graduated from the local schools.  She also graduated from the Woodbury Business College in Los Angeles where she majored in the executive secretarial course for the entertainment industry and was an active member of the Sigma Iota Chi sorority chapter of the Beta Lambda and the honor sorority Phi Gamma Kappa.

Betty met her future husband, Bob Huhn, while in college.  They married and had four children, one who died in infancy.  They divorced and Betty was a stay-at-home mother until she returned to the workforce in 1958 and working as a secretary for the County of Los Angeles until her retirement in 1990.  During her years as a single working mother she attended night school, doubled the size of her house and provided a safe haven for her children and numerous of their friends in need.  She enjoyed travelling and taking road trips throughout the United States, as well as visiting Germany, Mexico and Canada.

Betty was a gifted gardener, canner and candy maker and all-around great cook. She found great joy in creating inviting meals for those around her and sharing her homemade candy and canned goodies.  She loved to entertain and creating varied and inviting culinary delights.  Betty also enjoyed sewing, working crossword puzzles and crocheting; she loved creating blankets for friends and family and especially baby items for new parents.

After her retirement Betty continued her volunteer work by joining the Azusa Woman's Club, serving several times as the President as well as other positions and spearheading fund-raisers to provide scholarships for the local high schools

Betty is survived by her son Robert, daughters Betty and Deana, 7 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter who will miss her smiling face, loving and welcoming arms, and her zest for life. She was vivacious, optimistic and always excited to see what the next day would bring.  She was always ready to hop in the car and looked forward to whatever adventure awaited at the drop of a hat.
