Carolyn B. Fuller 

11 December 1936 – 24 September 2018

A friend to many, especially children, Carolyn was with her family as she passed following a brief illness. 

Carolyn Blakely was born in Mesa, Arizona and raised in the Phoenix area. While attending Arizona State University, she met and married Clifford L. Fuller 59 years ago. Together they had six children (including a boy born in a 1960s UK midwife ward outside Cardiff, Wales). She spent countless hours talking, nurturing, and listening as she worked side-by-side with her children doing yard work, paper routes, or even constructing and roofing homes. As a mother, she gave, she loved, and she inspired her children. As a teacher, she did the same. She taught for the Duarte Unified School District for over 20 years, primarily teaching First Grade. She was Teacher of the Year at her school numerous times and also Teacher of the Year for the District. After retiring, she tutored many children to help them to learn to love to read. 

Carolyn was preceded in death by her brothers, Doug and Richard Blakely, and a sister, Donna Griffin. She also lost two of her sons, Rodney and Vernon. Carolyn is survived by her husband, Clifford; her sister, Ada Cox; and her remaining children: Kempton (Cyndy); Vernon’s widow, Shannon; Denise; Christiane (Bryan Woerner); and Darrell (Rachel). She is the proud grandmother of seventeen and great-grandmother of nine. 

Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 251 S. Elwood, Glendora, California. Viewings will be on Friday, 10/12 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, 10/13 from 9 to 9:45 a.m. The funeral will be Saturday, 10/13 starting at 10 a.m. at the same location. She will be interred in Mesa, Arizona.
