Jerry Lee Perser

September 4, 1942 ~ March 20, 2020 (age 77) 77 Years Old

Tribute

Jerry Lee Perser passed on March 20, 2020. He is survived by his wife Mary, son Jerry Jr, daughter Cyndi, granddaughter Beth, grandsons Kevin, Art, Andres, and Alex, great grandsons Mason and Atticus.

He had a heart breaking start. He rarely spoke of it. It was something you had to learn from bits and pieces over years. Yet he never let that start be an excuse to hold him back.

He joined the Marine Corps as soon as he was old enough. They gave him his first bed and got him out of Kansas. He was very proud of his service, yet never bragged. He served as an MP and had many interesting stories, if you could drag them out of him.

The love of his life picked him up on a bus bench outside a police station. (No one admitted why he was outside that police station.) Regardless, it was the beginning of 57 years together, literally for better or worse. Their love got them through some very tough times and many, many wonderful times.

He enjoyed learning, tinkering, always fixing things. After having 3 kids to feed, he went back to school to earn his high school diploma and an associate's degree. He continued learning to get his electrical contractor's license, built computers, and researched family history extensively. If he didn't know how to do something, he researched and figured it out. And his hands were ALWAYS busy.

He was always looking for ways to bring joy to children. Waterfights with the neighbors. Throwing kids in pools, including the grandsons who wore trunks on the plane so they'd be ready. BBQs, fireworks, bike rides, camping, beach days, dirt bikes, fishing, shooting, Oreos, and the list goes on. He did whatever he could to make children smile. That made him everyone's favorite uncle and neighbor.

Every time we parted he would say, it's not goodbye, it's till I see you again. Words to hold on to while we adjust to life without him. We will see him again.

Interment will be in Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, CA.
