Lenie Hougland

Lenie was born on July 17, 1932 in Haarlem, The Netherlands to Antonie Hermanus Heemskerk and Regina Looije. She married Karl Munniks in 1955 and a few months later they moved to the United States, settling in California. They had two children; Jessie and Ronald Munniks. Lenie was always active in her church, singing in choirs and helping Children’s Ministry. After They divorced, Lenie worked as a church secretary at Bell Memorial Church in Rowland Height, California. She also worked as a Financial Secretary at First Presbyterian Church in Covina, California. After she retired, she volunteered at the Alpine Attic thrift shop where she met Neil Hougland. They were married in 2001 and were very involved in the ministry of the Gideons, as well as at their church in Diamond Bar.

Lenie was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Jan Heemskerk. She is survived by her loving husband Neil Hougland, Her Daughter, Jessie Cheek, (husband, Mike), Ron Munniks (wife, Julie), grandchildren, great grandchildren and other relatives. Lenie was living in Glendora, California when she graduated to heaven on September 28, 2023
