MAGDALENA BOWMAN was born in McAllen, TX, on July 16, 1959, to Manuel Lopez and Ramona Vasquez. Magdalena had an older sister named Zulema and a younger brother named Ruben. Growing up, Magdalena and her family moved back and forth from Texas to California before finally settling in Whittier, CA. She attended Pioneer High School in Whittier, CA, and later earned a General Educational Development (GED) diploma.
In 1976, Magdalena had her first son, Martin Henry Mora. She later met the love of her life, Daniel Bowman, in 1981 while attending church in Norwalk, CA. They were married in 1982. Dan became the father figure to Magdalena's son, Martin, who later adopted the Bowman family name. Magdalena had her second son, Jacob Albert, in 1984. Then came Isaac Willard in 1986, Christopher Paul in 1988, Luis Daniel in 1990, and lastly, the only daughter, Stephanie Esther in 1991.
Magdalena enjoyed spending time with her family. She had a real talent for celebrating special occasions like birthdays or holidays, especially Christmas and Easter. Family traditions were a big part of the Bowman household. She also loved to cook her favorite Mexican dishes that reminded her of her childhood, growing up in Texas.
Magdalena was a devout Christian, attending church on a weekly basis. She even got involved with Bible study and volunteering at Sunday school. She really enjoyed listening to Christian music and had a huge collection of CDs, records, and cassette tapes. You could often hear her humming or singing along to the songs.
Throughout the years, Magdalena worked various jobs, including a waitress, a hospital secretary at Whittier Hospital, a food service worker at Azusa Unified School District, and an Associate at Kohl’s Department Store. She was forced into an early retirement due to health issues and the need to go on dialysis treatment.
In 2018, Magdalena’s husband, Dan, suffered a stroke. She did her best to take over the household responsibilities while he recovered, but eventually she was hospitalized alongside him. Dan passed away in 2024. They had been married for 41 years at the time of his passing. Now, more than two years later, Magdalena reunites with him in the Kingdom of our Lord.
