In Loving Memory of
Mary Rose Hoffmeister
October 9, 1921 - April 4, 2019
Born in Manville, New Jersey. Mary was the second child of six to Wasil and Anna Boyko. She grew up in Bath, Pennsylvania, and met the love her life, Alfred Hoffmeister, of Nazareth, through a mutual friend. Married January 15, 1944, they moved to Southern California the following year, and purchased a new home in Azusa which they shared for fifty-one years. After Al's death in 1995, Mary continued to reside there for a total of seventy-three years.
Mary's home was her castle, and she loved being queen and homemaker extraordinaire. Faith and family were foremost, and when time allowed, she engaged in volunteer work at St. Frances of Rome School and Church, election polls, crafts and sewing. She could be seen daily gardening and tending to her beautiful flowers, or keeping her 1966 Mustang in pristine condition.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker, Mary will be deeply missed by her loving family: daughters, Caroyl Howard and Denise Spencer (Rex); grandchildren, Candice Schoenick (Scott), Christine Soderstrom (Jonas), Dallas Spencer (Angelica), Paris Spencer (Albert) and Austin Spencer; great-granddaughters. Kendra and Kristen Schoenick, and Ashley and Annika Soderstrom.
Memorial Funeral Mass will be Friday, April 26, 2019, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Dorothy Catholic Church, Glendora.
Interment will be private at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, California.
