Noriega Rubio, 88
Ramona was born in Azusa, California on August 3, 1930 and born into eternal life on November 30, 2018 in Glendora, California.
Ramona was one of twelve children. She was baptized at St. Francis of Rome Catholic Church in Azusa and celebrated her marriage to the late Azusa native Alexander Alvarado Rubio at the same church. Ramona was a graduate of the 1948 Class of Citrus Union High. She was employed at Aerojet General Corporation, Azusa Light & Water, and Azusa Unified School District where she served as a teacher’s aide at Paramount Elementary School until her retirement in 1994.
Ramona worked side by side with her husband Alex in establishing the Azusa Boxing Club in the early 1970s and helped prepare meals for the young boxers during their training. She was an Honorary Member of UMAYPA, which was also founded by her husband; and was a member of the Azusa Helping Hand Auxiliary, Sociedad Progresista Mexicana, LULAC, La Fraternal de San Gabriel and was recognized as a 2008 Honored Citizen for the Azusa Golden Days celebration.
Ramona is preceded in death by her husband Alex Rubio, parents Rose Lopez and Raymond Noriega, sisters Evangeline Warner, Elizabeth Pimentel, Florence Garcia and Genevieve Garcia, and brothers Raymond, Gabriel, Manuel, William, Florencio and Jack Noriega.
Ramona is survived by her three daughters Mona, Roxanne (Jeff) Cornejo and Monica, four grandchildren, Jeffrey Cornejo, Melissa (Alex) Martinez, Raymond Cornejo and Adrian Angulo, and six great grandchildren, Jessica, Desiree, Alexander and Benjamin Martinez, and Raymond and Sophia Cornejo, all of Azusa, as well as many nieces, nephews, and countless godchildren.
Viewing will be Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 6:00PM with Rosary to follow at 7:00PM at White’s Funeral Home, 404 East Foothill Blvd, Azusa, CA. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, December 14, 2018 at 10:30AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 16025 Cypress Street, Irwindale, CA. Interment to follow at Oakdale Memorial Park in Glendora, CA.
