Reginaldo Grijalva Zavala

Reginaldo Grijalva Zavala was born on May 7, 1963 at East Los Angeles Doctors Hospital in Los Angeles, California. He was born to father Reginaldo Rosas Zavala and late mother Maria Luz Santamaria Grijalva. He had one brother and three sisters. He passed away on May 20, 2023 at his home in Los Angeles, California.

Reginaldo grew up in La Puente, California where he attended school. He was a graduate of La Puente High School. He joined the Army military services on February 9, 1981 where he served for 6 years. He was a Specialist E-4 and his MOS was 57H, 82nd Airborne Support Unit. Reginaldo took great pride in his service and being able to hold the title of a veteran. He worked in the construction/painting industry for some years. Reginaldo was united in Holy Matrimony to Cecilia on Sept. 10, 1983. To this union, 3 children were born.

He had a tremendous love for God and always took the opportunity to share about Jesus to others. Reginaldo had a strong ability to reach people in a deep and positive manner. He loved researching topics from politics to science and social issues. He had a great deal of knowledge and sense of humor that people gravitated to. Reginaldo always helped others and protected those who couldn’t protect themselves. His down to earth personality lent to the good things people always had to say about him. He was protective, genuine, humble, honest and lived a life of thankfulness. Reginaldo always remained true to himself.

Reginaldo is survived by Cecilia, his two sons Joseph (Joe Joe) Zavala and Daniel (Champ) Zavala and one daughter Zarina (Chaka) Zavala; father Reginaldo Zavala; sisters Carmen Zavala and Elda Zavala; late sister Rebecca Zavala; brother Sergio Zavala; Lupe Zavala; 7 grandchildren Jaylene, Joseph, Noah, Elijah, Jonas, Persephone and Gianna; brother in law, son in law, nieces, nephews, friends, cousins, fellow veterans and other relatives. 

There will be a service for those who would like to attend and give their condolences on June 13, 2023 at 10am, White’s Funeral Home. Burial services will be held at Riverside National Cemetery after memorial service.
