Robert “Bobby” Torres died in his home on March 28, 2018, in Azusa, CA due to complications from brain cancer. His wife Barbara was at his side. He was 70.
Robert Holguin Torres was born on October 6th, 1947 in Los Angeles, California to his parents, Robert Sias Torres and Julie Holguin Torres. Robert graduated from California State University, Los Angeles in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He served honorably in the Army from June 21, 1967 to June 20, 1969.
Robert retired as the Director of Transit System Safety at Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) with 32 years of service. He managed the bus and rail system safety programs. After retiring from Metro he was contracted by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) to be part of their System Safety Audit team and traveled to various transportation agencies worldwide conducting safety audits. In addition to APTA, Robert was providing transit safety consulting services to TriUnity Engineering and Management in Denver, CO.
Robert is survived by his loving wife Barbara of 14 years, his children, Eve and Grant, his brother Carl and scores of family and friends. He will be missed more than words can express by more people than we can count.
Robert enjoyed going to the gym, swimming and all sports. Playing Golf was his #1 passion, in addition to sports he loved going to the movies, concerts, fine dining, wine tasting, and seeing the world with his wife, Barbara.
Robert was a kind, caring and loving husband, father, brother and friend. He was a gentleman with a huge heart who cared about others and would do anything for you. His memory will be his lasting legacy.
