Obituary of Rodolfo “Rudy” Garcia
Rodolfo “Rudy” Munoz Garcia, 69 perished peacefully in his home in Duarte, CA on Friday, July 23, 2021 after a courageous two year battle of prostate cancer.
Rudy was born on October 17, 1951 in Pasadena, CA to Joseph Angel “Manuel” Garcia and Adeline “Adelina” Munoz. Rudy grew up in Covina, CA and graduated from Azusa High School in 1969, then later attended Citrus College in Glendora. Rudy was athletic and loved sports, which his passion of sports leads to becoming a ‘Little League’ and softball coach. His favorite team was the ‘Los Angeles Dodgers’. Rudy married the love of his life, Socorro on June 7, 1975. They moved to Duarte and had six children. Rudy was a hard worker and worked for Duarte Unified School District in the Maintenance Department where he specialized as an Electrician for thirty three years and retired in 2009.
Rudy enjoyed traveling the world and his favorite place of travel was the ‘holy land’ Israel, as he had the opportunity to go twice. With a video camera in his hand, he loved family trips and gatherings; he enjoyed creating bus trips to Stateline or Laughlin. He was a dog lover and had an appetite for life. Rudy was the ideal family man that people could look up to as a positive role model, with a quiet and humble demeanor. He was very loyal and attended every single performance, school function and family sporting event to support all of his children and grandchildren. He served the community, his church that he and his family attended (Immaculate Conception Church in Monrovia). Rudy was very dedicated to God, his wife, his children, his extended family, friends and those he worked with.
Rudy is survived by his wife Socorro Garcia, his six children Fabiola, Leopoldo, Claudia, Gary, Jennifer and Vivian, his grand children Giselle, Alexander, Melissa, Jonathan, Yunuem, Nadine, Mario, Audrey, Abigail and Violeta and his great granddaughter Leilani. Rudy is survived by his sister Margaret and his brother David. The pall bearers are his two sons Gary and Leopoldo, his son in-laws Mario and Cesar and his two grandsons, Alexander and Jonathan.
A vigil will be held Thursday, August 5, 2021 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Whites Funeral Home in Azusa, CA. Church Services will be held Friday, August 6, 2021 at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church in Monrovia, CA. Following the church service, will be his burial at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Rosemead, CA.
